A CALL FOR ONENESS

In an exclusive interview, Comrade Edward Astaire, spokesperson of A CALL FOR ONENESS, emphasized the importance of Nigerians taking an active role in shaping the country's future.

argued that political apathy is not a harmless stance, but rather a quiet permission for bad governance to thrive.

"Nigerians must understand that their withdrawal from civic life is not wisdom, it's not neutrality, it's the quiet permission a people give for their future to be decided without them," Astaire said.

He stressed that unity, good governance, good representation, and political involvement are not abstract ideals, but practical tools for national renewal.

According to Astaire, unity is Nigeria's first duty, and it requires putting the nation's interest above individual or group ambitions.

"A divided people cannot discipline bad leaders. They can only cheer their own, even when those leaders fail," he said.

Astaire also emphasized the importance of good governance, saying it is a standard demanded by citizens, not a favor from leaders.

"When public office becomes a private reward, roads decay, schools collapse, hospitals empty, and trust evaporates," he noted.

On representation, Astaire said elected officials must be accountable to the people and that representation is not just about voting, but also about monitoring, questioning, and demanding answers.

"Democracy cannot survive on spectators. It requires participants," Astaire said.

The spokesperson of A CALL FOR ONENESS called on Nigerians to reject division, engage with courage and clarity, and choose unity over indifference and responsibility over silence.

Astaire's message is a call to action for Nigerians to take ownership of their country's future and demand better governance.

As he noted, "A nation is not saved by miracles. It is rebuilt by citizens who decide to care again."

The interview comes as Nigeria faces numerous challenges, including insecurity, economic instability, and poor governance. Astaire's message is a reminder that the power to change the country's trajectory lies with its citizens.

A Call FOR ONENESS is a movement that aims to promote unity, good governance, and civic engagement in Nigeria. The organization is urging Nigerians to join the call and work towards a better future for the country.
